A Playful Reflection of Company Culture
When TikTok opened their Los Angeles headquarters in the summer of 2020, they relied on Gensler to design the 120,000 sq ft interiors. The result was a clear reflection of the company’s culture, with a sense of youth, excitement and movement.
Additions of vibrant color throughout the space include neon light installations, abstract murals, and even a bright pink metal staircase. To brighten the huddle rooms, Gensler worked with MetWest in order to produce and install a glass film design that reflected TikTok’s personality.
The planned design incorporated two different types of dichroic glass film as well as black vinyl. Dichroic Film shimmers, shifts colors, and captivates the eye. It makes glass change colors from different angles and lighting conditions.
Due to its color-shifting nature, each project is a new experience with every encounter. Not only does it’s vibrancy flow perfectly with the bold color pops in the interior, its dynamic properties reflects the lively spirit of the company and it’s ever-evolving app.
The final installation was a custom cut pattern created from varying widths of Chill Dichroic Film, Blaze Dichroic Film, and black opaque vinyl – the latter offering a stabilizing contrast to the other film choices. Once installed, the color shifting qualities of dichroic film created a dynamic final result that embodied the playful and kinetic spirit that characterizes TikTok’s environment.
Perfect blend of vibrant colors, neon light installations, and abstract murals that create a playful and inspiring space for creativity.
The cutting-edge design reflects TikTok's youthful and ever-evolving spirit, and has won multiple awards for innovation in interior design.
Vibrant colors, neon lights, and dichroic glass film combine to create a dynamic space for innovation and collaboration.
